What The Onyx Victor Foundation Does
How We Support Grieving Families
We provide compassionate support to help families navigate grief in a safe and understanding environment, with services available for both members and nonmembers.
Grief Support Groups
We are proud to partner with Chesapeake Public Libraries to host in-person grief support groups for parents and siblings. These sessions are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and occur on the first and third Saturday of each month at the South Norfolk Library from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Each gathering includes a catered lunch provided by local chefs and restaurants, offering families a comforting space to connect and heal.
Groceries & Home Cleanings For Newly Bereaved Families
We provide one house cleaning and one grocery delivery to bereaved families within six months of their loss, regardless of membership. Members who have experienced child loss are eligible for multiple cleanings and grocery deliveries each membership year. We are proud to partner with Caro Clean to offer cleaning support and grocery deliveries backed by community donations.
Funeral & Memorial Planning Assistance
Through community donations, we provide financial assistance to help families with funeral and memorial expenses. In partnership with NFLUENCR Events, we offer support in planning and coordinating memorial and funeral services. We understand how overwhelming the early stages of grief can be, so our goal is to ease the burden by handling the details, allowing families to focus on remembrance and healing.
Coming Soon: Angel Buddies & Angel Mini Buddies
We are developing a program to connect grieving families with peers who are further along in their journey, offering moral support and an understanding heart. Angel Buddies will provide companionship for bereaved parents, while Angel Mini Buddies will support grieving siblings. These peer connections will be made up of dedicated volunteers and alumni members who have experienced child loss and want to offer comfort to others.
As part of the program, buddies will conduct regular check-ins and communicate any needs to the foundation. We aim to provide assistance or connect families with helpful resources to ensure they receive the support they need.
Building Community Through Family Fun Days
As we grow our membership community, we aim to provide hope to all bereaved families. everything does not have to be sad all the time, so we take our members out for family days where we have fun and build connections beyond our similar pains. These “fun days” will happen up to 4 times a year.
Memorial Events Promoting Environmental Initiatives
We provide meaningful ways for families and the community to honor their loved ones while making a positive impact on the environment. Through butterfly releases, tree and flower planting, star naming, biodegradable Chinese lanterns, kite flying, and more, we create lasting tributes that celebrate the lives of angel children in a beautiful and sustainable way. Select memorial activities will be available to both members and nonmembers, with details coming soon.
Why We Provide Support To Parents And Siblings

The Angel Who Inspired It All
Onyx Victor was a beautiful three-month-old baby boy, born to our founder, Kayla. Despite being diagnosed with congenital heart disease, Onyx was a fighter from the very beginning. He survived open-heart surgery at just one week old and spent 101 nights surrounded by the love of his mother and twin siblings. Tragically, his life was cut short due to medical negligence during a routine procedure.
Experiencing firsthand the isolation and challenges that come with child loss, Kayla was determined to create the support she wished had existed. From that pain, the Onyx Victor Foundation was born—a place where grieving families receive compassionate, practical, and emotional care as they navigate life after loss. Onyx’s legacy lives on through every family helped, every memory honored, and every act of kindness shared.
Turning Pain Into Purpose
What started as a personal journey became a mission to help others. After losing Onyx, Kayla connected with grieving families who shared the same struggles—navigating grief while feeling unseen, unsupported, and overwhelmed. It wasn’t just about the emotional pain; many were also facing financial hardship, struggling to afford funeral costs, or unsure where to find the right resources.
Kayla began offering not only compassionate conversations, but also direct support—helping families access resources, secure funding for memorial services, and find guidance in their most difficult moments. This outreach extended far beyond Hampton Roads, reaching families across the country who needed more than just words of sympathy—they needed action.
Each conversation, each family supported, reinforced the same truth: grieving parents deserve a community that understands and steps in when it matters most. From these experiences, the vision for the Onyx Victor Foundation was born—not just as a source of comfort, but as a tangible support system for families navigating child loss.

Honor. Support. Give.
Grief doesn’t end after the funeral, and neither does our work. Families need ongoing support, resources, and a community that understands. The Onyx Victor Foundation provides that—offering real help when it matters most.
Your support makes this possible. Whether by donating, volunteering, or spreading the word, you can help ensure no grieving parent or sibling walks this journey alone.
